Painted Faces - Anxious Color (1967)

Coming out of South Florida, this group was a very short lived band that found success with multiple singles. Although not much information is available on the group, it is clear that they had a lot of local success with their singles and that one of them, heard below, went as far as reaching number one in southwest Florida.

After reaching number one in southwest Florida, this song was released in Los Angeles, California and it reached the Top 10.

Lyrics:

There's anxious color waiting patiently
To be released unsuspectingly
Ending dreams that have haunted me
I'll make the world like it's supposed to be

Color
Streaming from my mind
Color
No ordinary kind

The green’s all running to my pocket
The blue returning to the sky
Now what is this that has come over me?
Creating color for my eye

Anxious color, please be good to me
Don’t make me live my life fearfully
Come strong and color my frustration
I need to rise a new elation

Color
Brightly blinding eyes
Color
Erasing all my pride

Blackened portraits of my foes
Red, yellow, white are how it goes
Now what is this that has come over me?
Creating color for my eyes
Creating color for my eyes

Anxious color (No, no)
Anxious color (No, no)
Anxious color (No, no, no, no)
Anxious color
