The Dovers - She's Not Just Anybody (1966)

Coming out of Santa Barbara, California, this band was originally named The Vandells. When they got a record deal with Miramar Records in 1965, they changed their name to its current one. They released their first single “She’s Gone”/”What Am I Going to Do?” and achieved local success. Unfortunately, none of their future releases gathered much attention and the group broke up in late 1966.

This song was the last single to be released by the group, as an A-Side, and showed how the group was influenced by both the British Invasion and The Byrds. Although it failed to achieve national success, it’s a great, quick song with a catchy tune.

Lyrics:

You know I want nobody but you
Today I found someone that was new
You know she’s not just anybody
You know she’s not just anybody
You know she’s not just anybody like you

She's nice and warm instead of cold
No one can say that it doesn’t show
You know she’s not just anybody
You know she’s not just anybody
You know she’s not just anybody like you

She’s mine and I love her
It’s just me?
There’s no one like you

You know I’ve been unhappy with you
Today I found someone that was new
You know she’s not just anybody
You know she’s not just anybody
You know she’s not just anybody like you
