The Del Vikings - Come Go With Me (1956)

One of the few racially integrated groups of the 1950s, these guys were able to produce a string of hits throughout the decade. Their history is full of people leaving, joining, reuniting, and lawsuits. What’s important is the music that they created.

This song, which was their second hit, propelled the group to stardom. It reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over a million copies, earning itself a gold disc. It was the group’s largest hit and remains one of the most recognizable doo-wop songs of the ‘50s.

Lyrics:

Well, I love- love you darlin’
Come and go with me
Come with me
Way beyond the sea
I need you darlin’
So, come go with me

Come, come, come, come
Come into my heart
Tell me darlin’
We will never part
I need you darlin’
So come go with me

Yes, I need you
Yes, I really need you
Please, say you'll never leave me
Well, say you never
Yes, you really never
(You never give me a chance)(Ohhhh!)

Come, come, come, come
Come into my heart
Tell me darlin’
We will never part
I need you darlin’
So come go with me
Yea!

Yes, I need you
Yes, I really need you
Please, say you'll never leave me
Well, say you never
Yes, you really never
(You never give me a chance) (Ohhhh!)

Love, love me darlin’
Come and go with me
Come with me
Way beyond the sea
I need you darlin’
So, come go with me

Come on, go with me
Come on, go with me
Come on, go with me
